East London’s Paigey Cakey dropped a brilliant mixtape titled Red Velvet last year. Employing elements of Afrobeats, trap and traditional rap, the EP showcased a taste of her versatility with her style and flow, and, today, she drops a new set of visuals for ‘Special’ which was taken from her project.
‘Special’ sees a departure from Paigey’s signature rap style and instead offers up her vocals on this slow- tempo love song produced by Ric and Thadeus. In an interview last year Paigey Cakey described her single “as a very special song as it means something to me. I went through the same situation I’m speaking about”. In the Craig Capone directed video, we see Paigey Cakey in a relationship with what looks like a scammer. The rapper/singer is treated to nice expensive but eventually, her lovers luck runs out with Paigey Cakey having to pay the price.
The East London rapper has been artist who has maintained a very high level when it comes to releasing exciting music over the last year or so and thankfully doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Check out the visuals for ‘Special’ above.
